Contest of most beautiful green Mineral !

Excellent ambiance at this meeting dedicated to the contest of the most beautiful green mineral which saw a significant participation.
The first price was gained by our new member Fabrice Matheys, geologist working in Congo D. R., with enormous and strange
malachite, followed closely by an excellent chrysoberyl reported by our founder member Claude Hootele. The third position was occupied by Jean-Claude Defleur with a superb fibrous malachite. Among the other specimens showed, the participants selected a very good
cuprosklodowskite of Shaba and a beryl emerald variety of China.

«fossil fishes».

Exhibition of strange minerals and fossils.

Slide show - Contest of mineral determination.

The contest consisted of the determination of 20 minerals starting from slides realized by Robert.
The least which one can say is that it was not easy at all since even Michel Deliens had to give up.

1st prize ex-aequo : M. Genot (2/20) and M. Jauniaux (2/20).

We all need lessons of mineralogy....Robert !!!

PYRITE.

About 20 members took part in the contest.
A window was devoted to the exceptional pieces.

Welcome of the new members.

Contest in two teams (questions about mineralogy and paleontology accessible to all).

Excellent environment during the meeting of October. The game presented by Robert Desruelles was appreciated with unanimity and allowed the winning team to share minerals from Rep. Dem. of Congo: quartz, malachite, smithsonite (Kipushi), bornite (Kipushi). As for
the losing team , it nevertheless was rewarded by specimens of fibrous malachite.

This meeting met a sharp success in a very cordial environment. After the presentation of the slides on the topic "Sicily", our members present could gracefully taste sicilian wines offered by Alda and Gerard Declercq and the CMPB as well as succulent "cannoli" prepared
by Anna and other pastries of the area. A table was furnished with books relating to the mining activities of Sicily and its extraordinary architectural and archaeological richnesses. Finally a beautiful tombola ended the evening (Celestite, Aragonite and
gypsum on sulphur of Canigasé Casale, epidote of Switzerland, barite and quartz biterminé of St Laurent le Minier, fibrous
malachite of Shaba…)

Fluorite - Chine (coll. RLS)

Great success for our meeting which had as a subject "the fluorite". About 10 pieces took part in the contest gained by Jean Vanhamme.
The second prize was awarded to a big pink fluorite of the Mont Blanc, which we were not authorized to photograph.
About thirty members were present.
Robert Desruelles presented a series of particular specimens and gave the required explanations.
Small crystals could be examined by means of our 2 binoculars.
The most courageous viewed until very late in the evening the video realized by Domenique Pierson during our journey in Sicily.
